Q1: Has there ever been a point in your life where you wanted to “run away”?
Let me think …. probably from school events. Excursions, sports festivals, arts festivals … I am not really a fan of those. I am talking about elementary school though (laughs).
Q2: Have you ever run as fast as you could?
I guess that would be at the Johnny’s sports festival. I don’t think I am very fast. Nobody ever told me I was fast.
Q3: Which mystery or suspense movies have left an impression on you?
To be honest, I haven’t been to the movies since 2000. I go to movie theatres when there is a promotion for a stageplay though. There isn’t a genre I especially like, neither. But one series that has still left an impression on me was the television drama “Yonimo Kimyouna Monogatari" (Note: a semi-annual special televised by Fuji TV starting in 1990).
Q4: Do you watch the movies the other Arashi-members have a part in?
Somebody lent me the DVD so I did see “Yatterman” (Note: with Sakurai Shō, 2009).
As for the other movies, there was nobody I could borrow them from, so I didn’t see them (laughs).
Oh, but, when the “Hachimitsu to Clover" movie was released, they would get us a private room for showing us the preview since we were singing the theme song. So I remember us five watching the movie together.
Q5: What were the reactions of the other members regarding “Platina Data”?
Among the members, Matsujun was really looking forward to it!
Ohno-kun however won’t go see it, I think (laughs). When I ask him about it, he just covers it up by saying “Hmmm” and laughing.
Q6: “Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de - The Movie” with Sakurai Shō will be released in 2013. Did he get you a souvenir when he went abroad for shooting the movie?
I got drip mats. I wonder where they are from. I think he went to many countries, but I didn’t ask him where he got them from …
Q7: Where can you be your true self?
I can be most myself at home.
Q8: If you are analyzing your true self, what kind of person are you?
I barely talk. It’s quite different from when I’m working. At work, it’s necessary to talk so I am talking to the best of my abilities, but when I’m home I generally don’t speak. But on the other hand, as soon as I leave the door, I am in work mode.
Q9: Is there any change of heart in 2013?
It’s not like, when a new year starts, that the things I can do are suddenly increasing, neither are there things that I am suddenly unable to do. So I don’t think there is a special change of heart. I want to go on as before without overthinking it.
Q10: What does “playing a role” mean to you?
I have never really thought about this …
Even in times when I am busy with acting, I will work as an actor for maybe five days in a week. No matter how absorbed I get into a role, the other two days I will definitely do work that is related to Arashi. But among actors, there are many people who are solemnly focussing on acting, every day. This means that they have to face the role they are playing constantly, and I think that must be very hard. Actors are really stoic.
